Winter photo update:

Thursday February 11 things return to normal...sort of. The new digging begins. Yesterday totaled 19 official inches and it blew all over the place. It was too difficult to walk to any non-residential area to photo good dunes but here are a few. The first is my neighbor's front lawn and the second is my backyard where I stood nearly waist deep in snow in order to take it. Lastly is my house. You can see that we have plenty of sun and it is about 35-40 degrees so the shoveling while huge, is not the problem I anticipated 24 hours ago.

Wednesday, February 10 and we are in the midst of another blizzard. My local NPR station suggests up to 16 inches and the local (and much more hysterical) television stations are talking "over 20". Here are some late Tuesday and early Wednesday shots. The first is the calm before the storm and I am using the car photos for two reasons. The first is because the window I shoot out of is about two feet away and secondly because it provides some perspective. The second is also before the big blast. On Wednesday morning it began like this and this. Here is one from my hike and here is another.

A PM update ensues.

Lets start with one of the million birds seeking food. They cannot realistically get their own so I have two plates out for them. Here is a cardinal waiting in the wings for his turn.

This afternoon I found that most of my photos were close to duplicates of earlier ones (just more snow on the ground) so there are less of them. However here is one of my deck and one of the back yard and one last one of the big trees across the street.

It is dark now so there are no more pictures today. It is still a night of very high winds and very cold temperatures so the swirls of dunes will give some imagery for tomorrow's updates.

Saturday February 6: Well we Mid-Atlantic residents are getting our share of winter and I sent some photos to this site last December when we got our first "big one". Since then we have has several other respectable sized snow falls but this weekend we got what may be a record breaker.

I spent Saturday (February 6) loafing and cooking and not shoveling. I also took some photos and here are a few of them for starters. The First, the Second and  Third are all from Saturday.

I also put out a plate of bird seed since the regular feeders were no longer convenient. One Song Sparrow thanked me (so did other birds.

On Sunday the 7th I walked about a mile to the main road and chatted with neighbors (so that I could get out of the inevitable shoveling. Here is one photo and here is another.

Then I did shovel and now I am feeling like I'm one hundred. I wonder if I am going to work tomorrow.
